Post Which winch bar?

Gday all,

Im after some help in finding a decent winch compatible steel bull bar for my 2008 D22 navara.Ive looked on the net and in stores and only found 3 possibles but nothing that tickles my fancy.

1) ARB commercial bullbar 2) TJM T15 and 3) ironman protector

they are all around the same price (roughly) but i was leaning towards the ironman protector all the nice looking recessed lights, colour coded bumper with stainless hoops however after reading forums on this bar found the mounting was not so good. The ARB bar is an older style and much the same as the TJM brand.

I found the bar i wanted (very similar to the ironman) as another D22 driver pulled into the local ARB store today and after talking to him he said he got it while in W.A but cant remember the brand.

this is probably the biggest purchase ill make besides the car so i dont want to get it wrong, can anyone point me in the right direction?

cheers

Hey mate, i have been looking at winch bars too for a d22, I saw the other day on ebay a fella had made a bracket that went in behind the stock alloy bar and bolted in between the chassis,It was for a d40 but im sure with a bit of tinkering you could make one to suit a d22.. The cost of a bar and then the winch on top is huge...

Gday,

thanx for the reply, but i have already fitted one, after looking high and low i settled on an unknown company in qld, that sells a bar similar (probably exact to an ARB sahara or ironman protector)

but wasnt to expensive, looked/is solid extra lights chrome loops colour matched bar and recessed area for winch fair lead and mounting for winch.

all bolted on no worries even the winch very pleased and looks great.

A couple of things to consider before making a purchase are as you have 08 model are:
1/ is it airbag compatable?
2/ does it come with crumple zone style mounting?
3/ was it designed and tested to Aussie standards or above to suit your vehicle?
4/ warranty.. is it easy to obtain in your state and will it affect your Nissan factory warranty in the event something goes wrong?

The ARB & TJM bars tick all these boxes (truth be known the Nissan Genuine bar is almost identical to the ARB) so just be a little careful when buying an unknown brand as Nissan is the king of "no sir your gearbox is not covered under warranty because you have fitted aftermarket tail light globes".

What was the brand of the unknown bullbar, I am about to purchase a Sahara for a new D40 ST and wouldn't mind comparing....

On the topic of bars I am also looking for one that will mount 2 tyres on the back and the only one that I can find is the from opposite lock, does anyone know of anymore?

i went with a company called fx enterprises their website is FX Enterprises however i dont think they have one for the D40 listed.

I like the bar and havnt had any problems with it, when i compared it to the genuine nissan, the arb and the ironman its very close to the ironman and nissan bull bar both in style and construction, just a different set of lights
