Default Which Camper Trailer Do You Have & Why

We have a Redback Country, our main reason for choosing this camper was the walkin section at the front, it allows easy access to the bed, gives us extra storage and also gives us more room in the tent section.

The other reason, was that Ray Clarke the builder of the trailer was open too modifications that we wanted too the trailer, he didn't mind at all and allowed us to be involved in the building of the trailer too suit our needs.

The only down side too our camper was the quality of finish in the canvas work, little things like walls not meeting properly and the stich work being pretty ordinary, although having said that it has never leaked anywhere and the canvas quality is second too none.

We have added a few things too it to make our stays away very comfortable, a gas hotwater system, 12v and 240v outlets as well as a 240v inlet for stays in van parks and i built my own kitchen and added a water filter system too.

The most impressive thing about this camper, is the way it tows, it doesn't sway or bounce, it tracks so well behind the car, the only time you know it's even there is when climbing hills, it is heavy, coming in at around 1.3t, but the Disco seems to handle it OK.

Jayco Hawk Outback.

It has a Trigg Bros coupling and I have fitted an 80ahr deep cycle battery with volt & amp guages. I have lifted it 50mm to fit 285/75/16 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tyres on alloy rims. I have added an extra water tank allowing us to carry 140 litres of Melbourne water. It has a 12volt water pump and water level guage fitted. I have taken it to Fraser Island and regular visit the Victorian High Country. The pictures below are crossing the Wongungarra River on Crooked River Trk.

Cheers Rossco

You can talk Frosty - at least he doesn't need a building inspection on his tent

Frosty would have had the biggest Domb tent I have ever seen in my life at LCMP. The camper wasn't much smaller

I use a trailer i built myself so far so good couldnt be happier as you can add all the things you want and leave out the rest i.e- I have a fold out beer holder mounted right next to the kitchen for when im cooking . It has successfully done 2 weeks over fraser and more recentely six weeks to the tip and back awesome performance so far. (touch wood)

We have an Aussieswag.

Quick Setup / Packup for overnight stays on a long trip.
Hard Floor for bad weather.
Well sealed - no dust issues.
Excellent to tow - independant suspension is fantastic.
Everything we need to be completely self-contained.
Has extra canvas for longer stays.
