Slightly off tangent but still related to topic - I noticed on the latest 4wd Action DVD that they are offering a deal of $5,500 for their "off road" model with a couple of inclusions which I think included shockies. Again I think he also mentioned that they were made in Oz..however I have been wrong in the past

Thanks for all your comment. I have collected all the information I need in regards to this camper. Looks to be a good package for light off road work. I don't think its a camper I would take to deep into the scrub but would be perfect for trips to say the Murray!

4wd Action is doing a deal with them in the latest mag. Worth a look.

Camper looks good? one question, once you fill up the water tank, load up the jerrys, stock the kitchen and fill the tool box you are going to be very close to 750kgs. You will not be able to put any gear in the trailer unless you have brakes.... and it does not look like it.... mods are great but you must factor in reality.... are there different laws in different states for GVM and brakes on trailers... hate to be in an accident of serious nature with an overloaded camper trailer and no brakes... result 100% liability....just a thought

Reading all the pros and cons through this thread, not sure what is fact, what is emotion and what is fiction. I am on a limited budget, do not wish to take a camper trailer on an around Australia trip or into the middle of the Simpson, but just want something that will serve me well. Not interested in all the cooking / washing gear, got that already, just want something a bit better than a tent.

Anything over a weekend or so, I normally take the 6x4 road trailer loaded up anyway, so weight and capability to go really extreme would not change much.

I know it is my decision, but has anyone had any real major failures with these. ( I carry wheel bearings for the Pajero, easy enough to carry spares for the trailer and only half an hour or so to change anyway )

Seriously thinking about one of these ( 7x4 Off Road model with a 12 foot tent currently going for $4700 )

Any further input would be great.

I looked at the GIC at the Brisbane 4x4 show earlier in the year and for the price to what you get is value for money. Is it as good as the $10,000 plus camper, well in some cases very close and other no. I looked around and the Trackabout appeared to be the best in the $10,000 limit and can be done with one person. If my budget was was set around $5000 and I couldn't find a good pre-loved camper for that, GIC is top of my list.

Hey if you are considering a budget end trailer look at these from Mario trailers. I bought the extreme Off road galvanised last year & have done some big treks with it already. Basically the same as the GIC but having compared both I think they are a little more robust but not much in it. Here is the website have a look if this is what you are looking for.

Just an idea, have you thought about an ex-hire camper trailer, I believe they are great value, and they recondition them so they look almost brand new.
