Default 80 series landcriuser

i have a wine in the front diff and i want to fix it my self. i can pull it apart but not sure on the clearences when it's time to put it together. and i'm thinking about a center diff lock at the same time. i've fitted a part time kit to my 80 all ready so i'm wondering weather to go air locker or machanical locker.

any advice would be welcome

Default 80 series

ive talked to heaps of guys about lockers in the front and if you are going to go hard out id run an air locker in the front heaps of guys say they have broken axles when the lockrights jump in and out ive just locked the rear with an arb and are doing the same to the front that way i cant go wrong in my 80 series thats my thoughts anyway and they can check ya diff out when they put a locker in as well

the wine in the diff is the carrier bearings, would be best to get an air locker fitted as they replace those bearings at the same time anyway. (well a reputable mechanic would).

Hi mate be careful about doing it yourself as the diff requires it to be preloaded as it is reassembeld. I was lucky last year at the Yarra Glen swap meet in Vic' i came across an 80 series front diff with an arb air locker complete with compressor and an 80 series rear diff with a Detroit installed, needless to say i coped some fearful words and stares that would kill a pack of wild brown dogs, for the minister of war and finance but thats life !
