Default NJ Pajero electrical mess

Does any one know why all the wirring in my pajero would be wrapped in electrical tape? It seems to have been done after it left the factory because it's as dodgy as and it seems to go in odd directions (you know, the long way around with kinks in the loom). Is a possible reason for this that the previous owner has been messing about with it for shits and giggles or could there be something more sinister at play? It is making it extremely hard to make room for a dual battery setup.

Any help comes with many thanks Thanks

Sounds like a previous owner. If you have got any concerns about a particular area, post some pics and I will compare with mine and post some back of what it (hopefully) should look like.

When I put my dual battery system in, I had to move the charcoal canister over to the drivers side. This allowed enough room for me to add in a secondary home made battery tray between the existing cranking battery and the firewall on the passenger side. The only thing extra I had to buy was some hose for the charcoal canister as the existing was not long enough. It was only a couple of dollars from Repco or Bursons.

I made the battery fit with home fabricated battery tray, got it sorted eventually but i was just worried that their may have been a common reason for someone to be tinkerin with the wiring. It almost looked like they had tried to make sure evrytime a wire branched off the loom, it was held as high as possible in the engine bay.
