Angry Cowboys that go out wheeling when we have had this much rain!

I follow a couple of facebook groups that wheel around SEQ. I notice tonight they are planning a Glasshouse Trip on Sunday. We have had 400mm of rain.

There excuse is other clubs are going why shouldn't they. My question is would a reputable club run a trip into an area that has just had 400mm of rain?

It wreck the tracks for everyone else but they don't seem to care gives eveyone with a 4wd a bad name Rant Over

And they will probably be running 37s or bigger to get through, pisses me off when I diff out on 35s not fair is it, apart from track damage, as I am too lazy to bolt the 37s on Tonkatrol, as Jo doesn't like the big tyres, hehehaha, I'm not complaining as she won't wear them out

But realistically, if a tyre grips the track it does less damage than ones that don't, have seen more damage done with guys using ATs on tracks than those using real tyres, come for a run with us in the mud area

Yep its very frustrating,as much as we try to promote the tread lightly message there will always be those that either ignore this or think it dose'nt apply to them, mabey they dont understand the real remifications of there stupid actions or are not mature enough to realise that mabey oneday there kids or grand kids might like to access a particular area and cant because there parents or g parents where part of the contributing factors that got the place closed off in the first place.
It dose'nt matter what your hobby/passion may be there will always be the small minority group that can potentialy ruin it for future generations to come.
Quite sad is'nt it.
sorry,that was my rant.
cheers,

Brian.

Jack thats half the problem guys running around on huge tyres.

Mate we have had 400mm of rain in about 3 days it is mostly clay out there - it just screams not only dangeous but stupid.

I have just read an actual 4wd club is going out there as well - they should know better

This cracks me up more I just found this in the particlar clubs constitution.

To promote fellowship and liaise with other 4WD Clubs to improve the image of 4WD generally.

This is the actual club the facebook group is following out - cowboys!

Not sure that I can accept your logic here. On the face of it, your argument seems to make sense, but how can AT's spinning on the surface of a wet track do more damage than MT's digging into, and churning up, that surface?

By the way, I may be a city kid, but I did spend quite a bit of time in my youth on a friend's farm: milking, bailing hay, picking pumpkins and driving tractors pulling trailers on muddy ground. The old tractor may have crawled along, but it certainly left a deep impression on the landscape.

Am not agreeing with it, as I think they are crazy, all I am saying is a rig with proper mud tyres does less damage than someone with pretend tyres like Big Horns and any pattern like that, sorry to mention a brand, it is a pattern like that that will rip the tracks up as they do not really bite in, in extreme conditions.

Therefore I recommend any one that does not have competition type tyres, Simex, Silverstone or Maxxis Treppadores, stays at home PLEASE, as you will not get through and you will fark up the tracks for everyone else, better still, wait a week till it all dries out, then go and enjoy it without needing to winch or snatch, and you are not making the dreaded ruts which most 4x4ers hate.

Like I said in a previous thread. Playhouse isn't a place to be in the wet. Bloody dangerous to say the least. Better of staying at home and wash the car.
