Apparently it is the bracket mount for the centre bearing in the tail shaft

Its either gna b huge or tiny its not out yet but its coming soon we (toyota) are being issued a fiber optic camera which looks inside the middle cross member (the one with the center bearing bracket on) to see if ther welds have cracked,
if they have then its a big job and need 2 b welded. Iv been working on the new hilux since they came out and havnt seen 1 yet dont think it will be a huge deal, just a pain 2 get ur car to the dealer ship and a hell of a lot of work for me!!

Not worth media attention, it's only half the length of the Toyota recalls list

Mind you, the fix-up for D40 / R51 Hood latch should have got media attention

We recieved the tools for the new hilux recall 2day 16500 vehicles involved from 2005-present alot of drilling and checking to do, not looking forward to it.
Basically what is required is to drill 2 holes in the middle cross member and use a flexy cam to look inside the cross member at the inside of the two brackets that hold the center bearing.
If they are cracked then it is a huge process to remove and get welded, but 90% wont be so the recall comes with a bracket kit which with alot of drilling and messing around strenthens the center bearing brackets. Let the fun begin....
