Hema Nav
Hi....
I'd like to hear from people that have had the Hema Navigator for a while and their thoughts as in if they feel it was worth the money or would you have bought something else, is it easy to use, reliable etc etc.. Ive read reviews but they read like a big sales pitch!! so some real time info/feedback would be great.....
I did do a search first but found little on these questions....

Hi Pete
Have a look at GPS Australia .:GPS Australia:.
Some good discussions in the forum section
Hope this helps
PS. I have had one since before Christmas last year and find it great. In my opinion, the best feature is to be able to scan, download, copy etc maps, calibrate them and upload them to the Hema. This virtually allows you ( with a bit of planning ) to have off road maps for any area you are likely to visit. It was expensive, but is also portable and easy to operate.

Thanks Davidman..... I've since had a closer look and a tryout from a person I know that has one, The route 66 s/ware is exactly whats on my $99 nav unit that I got with my phone as a promo so thats quite a letdown compared to my navmans s/ware and I have had oziexplorer for some years now... I really cant see how they justify the price.... Guess I'm a bit fussy, you can buy a new laptop cheaper...

The Hema and VMS units are worth looking at. VMS makes the Hema navigator

hey, I have had a Hema Nav for a few months a find it great and appart from other GPS units you can play with it for ages. Although last week when i took my Patrol in for a service at nissan, one of the service techs could'nt help themselves and had to have a play with it, he ended up deleting all the maps on the memory card! wanker!!!!! Now I have had to send it back to get all the maps reloaded. Well done wodonga Nissan (mcrae)

I'd be hitting Wodonga Nissan up for any costs ( postage etc ) and have them supply you a ' loaner ' while your's is off getting reloaded. ( probably means they will have to go out and buy one, but it will teach them a lesson )

G'day...
Just on the Hema, At the National 4x4 show in Melb they were selling for $699 as a so called show special... I still don't reckon they are worth that much..Considering the basic s/ware included.. I had noticed the VMS units were still at rrp.....

I would like to be able to change the street nav ( Route 66 ) software over to something else, say Navman or similar, but being a bit technologically challenged in this area, and not wanting to stuff the whole thing up ( although I have created a back up SD card with all software etc............recommend you do this ), I am a bit hesitant.
Any ideas on whether this is possible ?
