Default Free GPS logger

I just discovered an app you can install onto your GPS capable mobile phone that will turn it into a GPS track logger for free, it is available here.

I tried it out this afternoon on my Nokia Navigator when I picked up the kids from school. You have to use your phone to upload the track to the a-trip web site. You would need to do the following:

  1. Install the @trip software on your phone
  2. Record a track while out enjoying this great country.
  3. Export the track as a GPX file to the memory card of the phone.
  4. Put the memory card in your PC.
  5. Do what you will with the GPX file, including uploading the track to 4x4Earth.

While I was overseas my GPS tracker played up so I used this software on my phone (until the battery went flat). Last night I was looking what I could do with the track I recorded.

Turns out you can export it as a GPX file to the micro-SD memory card in the phone, there is no need to upload the track to the @trip server.

I have edited the post above.

I've been using this for a while, and it's pretty good (Nokia N95 8GB).

I'm still working out a decent phone mount/power solution for it, but it works well so far for logging where I've been.

Also pretty easy to pause/stop/restart logging to save multiple tracks and stuff like that.

Thanks!
