Default Garmin Nuvi card size

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the max size card that can be used in a Garmin Nuvi? Also the bigger the card the more info on it, is it going to slow the GPS down substantially?

Also, I have both OzTopo and the Garmin Topo maps, what are peoples preferences? The pros and cons, as I have not played with them too much yet. Can both map sets run off the same card without any dramas? Has anyone played with Shonky Maps also, and what are your thoughts?

Thanks heaps guys,

Brett

Not sure about the Nuvi, but if it uses SD Card and supports SDHC you will be able to put at least 8GB SDHC card into it

I run a 4GB card in my Navman with OziExplorer and a full map set of Australia, I don't find it any slower than I did when I ran only a 1Gb card with maps covering Vic only.

Kyle, yeah I was thinking the same thing, and I did end up finding info on Google stating that the Nuvi can accept SDHC cards, so the answer is yes. Thanks for the help.

I've got the Nuvi 760 with a 8Gb card. Oztopo & Shonkymaps & about 6Gb of music. It doesn't seem to slow the unit at all. SDHC slots should be able to take the latest 32Gb chips.
