GPS Logbooks

Hey guys,

As you may know, we have done a bit of work on mobile phone GPS software.

Our latest toy is here: GPS Logbooks - Home | Black Box Flight Recording, using only your Android cell phone

It is pretty neat. Provides realtime tracking, 3D visualisation over a google map AND you can watch people out and about on your phone!!!

Only works on Android phones, so there is probably no one reading this that can use the software, but more are planned.

Hey James,

Thinking about trying this new toy of yours out on my HTC Desire (Android OS) so I can record and upload track files of our adventures.
Few questions first though:

• Can you record the tracks using GPS alone or does it require phone signal assistance -GPRS or whatever you call it?

• Can you just record tracks to SD memory without doing the upload thing in real time or other to the logbooks site to save data up/download and $$$ ?

• Should it be downloaded to a PC and then installed or can I just download and install directly via the phone?

• Can it do a real time overlay onto the Google GPS locator software already on mmy phone?

• Does the software require much set up? I am kinda new to this recording GPS stuff

Hey Gordon,

You can just download it from the marketplace, there is no need to download it to a computer first.
It doesnt need the gprs signal to get lock, it should run fine.
We haven't built that feature in to save to SD rather than live upload, but it sounds like a good idea, will talk to the team about maybe implementing it.
It will run at the same time as Google Maps. It provides the same maps to work from.
It is pretty easy to set up. Let me know if you have any issues.

Have fun with the Desire. They look like cool phones.
