Default detailed track maps?

im looking for a good map programe to ise on my pc, (not with a gps) that has the up to date track info.
was out and about in toolangi today and i noted a few gps co. and that was fine but the trks that had signs with names, i cant find tham on google maps there not there.

so i dunno what map programe to look for..

any help would be good ?

OziExplorer, Mapsource or similar program with 25000:1 maps should do the trick. Some people on GPS Australia .:GPS Australia:. may have a good local map of a state forest also. It is still hard to be beat the old paper maps

iv got a roof top map of the area '06' but its not named on it either, but it has to be on some map as it has a sign pointing right at it. iv got discover ausv1.0 it dont have all the trks either but i dunno how old the maps are id say old. these days trks get shut and opened so often when do they get added or deleted ?

Ozi Explorer is not where it ends. You also have to buy the maps. There are some good ones at about 1:50,000 available for Vic for free at gpsaustralia.net, and there is a 1:25,000 series of Vic which is better. Not sure where they come from though.

gpsaustralia also have some free maps of NSW at 1:25,000 (and 1:100k out west) With Ozi, You can add waypoints to your map and then download them to your handheld.

got the trial version and i got some maps from track4you there .IMG files ozi wont load them ? what maps will it load ?

ECW and few others files will load. IMG are normally for Garmin Mapsource

Use maps in various formats which can be purchased in digital form (BSB, USGS DRG, ECW, SID, TIF, PNG, + more).
Direct support for most Garmin, Magellan, Lowrance/Eagle, Brunton/Silva and MLR GPS receivers for Uploading and Downloading Waypoints, Routes and Tracks.
Create Waypoints, Routes and Tracks on the map and upload these to your GPS (for supported GPS receivers).
