Smile ebay 7inch gps navigator

Can anyone comment on the quality and reliability of the 7 inch gps units on ebay for sale.(not the in dash models) I guess it is probably a case of you get what youu pay for but the brand name units dont appear to have 7 inch screens.
The way I see it the bigger the screen the better for off road mapping use. But I dont want to run a computer up front.

There is a bloke on Fleabay ( in VIC- Gippsland ) pushing out car PC's, a double din unit and a remote unit with 7" screen.
They are windows based with centrino 800 cpu and 2 year warranty if he installs it, 12mths if you install yourself.
All up they seem pretty good.
The D/Din sell for around $1300 and the remote screen job @ around $700.
Better off to spend a little more coin and get something that you can actually get warranty on

Looks interesting as someone I know in USA has something similar. They like it and everything in the unit. He has had one for 3 odd years now.

A lot of the members of the western patrol club have these 7 " GPS screens & they seem good. You can configure them to use oziexplorer CE on the SD card for offroading & they seem OK for streets. The oldest one in the club is 1.5 years old & has done plenty of duty bouncing over rocks & stuff. I was going to buy one myself but opted for the 8.5" toshiba netbook.

Cheers

Bri

I saw one of these, one of the guys at my 4wd club brought one in to show. It was a Q2 unit and had 7" screen, bluetooth handsfree, music player, input for reverse camera. For $245, why would you complain how long it lasted? I'm just dissappointed I didn't get one as they are not on fleabay anymore.

He is a unit that would work in the car, just need touch screen. Mini, fanless PC delivers 1080p video and 7.1-channel sound

I have one of the cheap china units with windows ce on it i paid about $90 landed. i have ozi explorer maps on it and i love it. they are totally unlocked so u can load what ever you want onto it. the gps reciever in it is as good as any other out there. i have Tom tom software, Garmin software, Igo software and ozi explorer software all on the one unit. Very easy to use and my father in law has one as well. We both have thrown them around and they are great.
just my 10 cents worth.
