You will have to install a copy of mapsource on your computer (Should have come with the GPS) if not get in touch with Garmin

Once you have installed mapsource on your computer you can download the file from 4x4 earth

Start mapsource open the file

Use mapsource to transfer it to the GPS

Once you get to know how to use mapsource its pretty straight forward

Once you have it in the Garmin you go to import route (I think I haven’t got the Garmin with me at the moment but its in there somewhere Usually I have to go through a few screens on the Garmin to find it)

I think I have the sequence right but the first step is to use mapsource or some other computer based program

Mapsource doesn't come with your Garmin. To purchase it go to your nearest GPS store og buy it online for $20.00.
When you download the track you want make sure you download the correct mapsource file. Once you have mapsource on your computer simply double click on the downloaded file and it will open in mapsource automatically. follow the mapsource instructions to upload to your GPS. If you have any problems send me a PM and i can talk you through it over the phone.

Default Garmin

I just went on-line and got the full set of shonkyMaps on a 2gig SD card together with the DVD delivered for $15.00 (Garmin Compatible) . I know that you can download the maps for free but I found this was a lot less mucking around. This way the card goes in the Garmin and stays there.

is this a plug and play item, I have the nuvi 760 so if I put the sd card in where in the menu would I find it? would it be under the settings for fastest route / less distance route/ off road.
cheers chris
