Default top mounted intercooler/bonnet scoop screens

gday guys,

After going over my car today ive noticed the top mounted intercooler is getting a small bit of damage. The fins on the cooler are becoming more damaged from objects entering the bonnet scoop, things such as gum nuts, leaves, twigs and small rocks.

is there a way to protect the intercooler from objects entering the scoop, either a fly screen arrangement or is there something on the market for this problem?

can anyone help?

I think you will find its just a fact of life.
Just have to clean it out regularly and straighten the odd fin.

Anything you do to prevent things entering the intercooler may restrict airflow.

You really don't want to restrict airflow through the intercooler.

Cheers

Justin

Gday KDA.
Unfortunantly Jarh73 is correct. It is not adviseable for either the Navara or Patrols Intercooler bonnett intake to be covered by a material such as fly screen. It does disturb the airflow through the intake and may reduce the efficiency of the small intercooler. But if you want to apply a screen I suggest that you install either a suction or blower fan.

Just a thought.

Looks to be a bit of a tough one,

i think Jarh73 is right trying to keep it clean and straighten it up might be the only way.
