Default Mitsubishi Pajero LWB turbo diesel 1985

Mitsubishi Pajero LWB turbo diesel, 1985

Good Points
extremely easy to work on
not difficult to get parts
something different to the "traditional 4x4"
very good lsd
has survived 735,000 kms

Bad Points
slow
standard suspension
truck sized steering wheel
oil leaks
mitsubishi cooling system sucks

What mods have you done?
before i had it, it was stock standard with a steel bullbar, 4d56t fitted instead of 4d55 and 735,000 km's
i have fitted 31 inch muddies to standard wheels
removed the rear muffler and routed the exhuast higher up so it is less likely to be torn off
new cylinder head, head was cracked when i bought it, also put on turbo from gen2 with better wastegate to run 12psi
removed 3rd row seats and belts
modified wheel carrier to hold a high lift jack
speco boost gauge
speco water temp gauge
digital battery voltage gauge

What mods are on the list to do?
winch and TJM bull bar, sitting in the garage waiting to be put on
intercooler also sitting in the garage, this will also need a bonnet scoop
spotties
2 inch lift with Heavy Duty torsion bars
auto lokka for front diff
air locker for rear diff
brake master cylinder upgrade
the intention is to make it the best a pajero can be, and hopefully embarrass a few "traditional" 4x4 owners

Why did you buy this vehicle?
it was cheap ($150) and i needed parts for the Gen2 i was rebuilding but after driving the car i thought it was too good to wreck so fixed it up and intend on winding the clock out. also learnt to drive in a gen1 pajero

How often do you go offroad?
not often enough! i have barely even tested this one out

What will your next vehicle be?
landcruiser or patrol ute, or dream car fj40!

thanks to both of you, it was owned by my girlfriends grandparents and they used it to tow a caravan around australia for about 20 years on and off! never really been used in 4wd so everything is in good working order and no rust! first gen1 i have seen with no rust.
