Default My 2.8lt Nissan Patrol 1998 Now a V8 Diesel!!

Nissan Patrol, 1998

Good Points
It's got a stonkin big Chev in it!

Well, as I mentioned in the earlier thread, my lil old 2.8 sorta died. Rather than spend 7k for a fix, 15k for a 4.2lt conversion and gaining no monitary gain (or perfofmance!!!!!), I elected for a Brunswich diesel "6.5lt diesel V8 Chev" conversion. WOW!!

I tossed up all different scenarioes and I reckon I made the right choice. I've owned the truck for 9 odd years and it owes me nothing. It is still in very good condition with all the mods I have made over the years. The mods alone could cost 10k to replace. The truck itself will last another 10 years easily and I still enjoy it. A replacement Patrol would cost 40k plus and that would'nt include the mods on it.

So, I've stuck a new donk in it!!!!

This thing is awsome!! It is a little "raw". No turbos or electronics. Drives as smooth or as roughly as you like. It is quite "lazy" to drive. Gears 2,3,4 and thats about it for 80% of the time. The torque is unbelievable!! Not a speed machine, but the torque is incredable. I put it in a deep rut last week and at idle it sat there stopped with the wheels just ticking over! In the sand at Fraser Is. (run in session!) 3rd gear, 1200 RPM in soft sand, bogs down, just feed it some loud pedal and it just plugs on! That's with the camper trailer!!

Pics and Vids will follow soon, probably via Photobucket or when Big Rwig needs recovering!

And thanks to Split Pin for the words of encouragement. Sorta tipped the the scales, Cheers Mate!!

Should be vast improvement in power. The only problem is we won't be able hear you coming without that whistle from the old turbo

Welcome to the club frosty. This is one club you will never leave from

Well old mate a couple of months ago you asked me about mine and swore me to secrecy.
See I told you how good a motor it is. Now we can pull out as many yodas and bitzyamissings as we can find

Mate I hope you enjoy it as much as the wife and I enjoy ours. Mate even blowing those V8 Sedans at the lights and watching the look of amazment on the boy racer faces as we power off in second gear
