Default Nissan XTrail 2010

Nissan XTrail, 2010

Good Points
Looks nice, comfy to drive.

Bad Points
None that I have found so far, but I'll keep you posted.

What mods have you done?
No mods yet, other than window tint and tow bar.

What mods are on the list to do?
Maybe nudge bar or bull bar.
CB Radio.
I'll add to the list when I see more!!

Why did you buy this vehicle?
I liked the looks, it was a comfortable test drive (on road). It isn't too big for arround the city.

How often do you go offroad?
I've hardly got the wheels dirty! I hope to get out a few times a year.

What will your next vehicle be?
Dunno yet.

Sound like you have a nice Spleep. I was over taken on Fraser by a XTrail last year. They do manage to get around

I had a Gen1 X-TRAIL was an ex demo model with 20K klms on the dial
let me tell you it didn't last very long @ all, I gave it heaps off road & well I killed it within 2yrs with only 60K klms on the dial
punctured the rear floor on a small rock step
broke engine mounts
lost the exhaust twice
after only 2 times on stockton beach the engine packed it in big time
the gear box started slipping gears
awd began failing after approx 7 months

if you plan to go off road don't expect it to handle much more than a rough dirt road with tiny ruts heck even the mazda 323 I had before the X-TRAIL went further off road than what the X-TRAIL would

Bit harsh there mate.I'm sure Spleep knows the X-Trails limitations and isn't going to try use it as anything more than it is.He can still get out in the State forests etc and have a great time with family and mates.Isn't that what it is all about???

Thanks guys. I don't really plan on doing the big off road trips as I've gone past that stage years ago with me GQ Patrol. I just want to go some places that are inaccessable to cars but nothing too extreme.

Thumbs up

The Xtrail is a good choice of AWD vehicle and provided you drive it sensibly and are aware of it's limitations you may well be surprised of how capable they really are.
It's good to see someone who thought about the actual intended use and purchased a suitable vehicle for that purpose. Good stuff!

Hey Spleep,

How's the X-Trail going? I had an 08 model and was amazed at how far it could go. With a little care and picking the right lines it'll surprise a few people.

If you have the petrol auto, the only thing I'd watch out for (and this was part of the reason I got rid of mine) is the CVT box. There is a bit of question mark over the reliability of the CVT and a few guys have had them changed, some more than once. It's still only a small percentage of people who have issues but I had a few small issues with mine so I got rid of it before they became big issues.

If you haven't found it already, the Australian X-Trail Forum is a great source of info (sorry, I can't post web links until I've made 5 posts on this forum but if you google "Australian X-Trail Forum" you'll get there). What Jalal and the guys don't know about X-Trails isn't worth knowing.

I agree, You got to also remember that the X-Trail does come from a manufacturer that builds a fair dinkum 4x4 (Patrol), and some of the features do filter down to the X-Trail. Also bear in mind it is classed as a 'soft roader' SUV, but if your carefull enough i reckon you could take it to more places than you think, especially in a group..

Hi Sleep
I just picked up my Xtrail TS today and plan on a light run tomorrow.
How are you finding it? Done anything off-road with it yet?
