Default Nissan Patrol GU 3L auto 2000

Nissan Patrol GU 3L auto, 2000

Good Points
big, tough, good on fuel, bigger fuel tank than im used to, more leg room than jeep, mods available

Bad Points
hard to park in tight spots or reverse park till i get a reverse camera, squeeking barn doors, NO cruise control!!!!!! wtf?

What mods have you done?
arb roof rack, arb steel winch bar, IPF spotties, dual batteries ( but no dual battery system.. ahh)

What mods are on the list to do?
either dual arb air lockers or front auto locker and leave the rear lsd, upgraded stereo and speakers, rear steel bar, dual battery system, winch, KM2 tyres, UHF and aerial, arb fridge, dp chip, 3" exhaust,

Why did you buy this vehicle?
size-more room for our dogs and drums, cheaper than equilavent Toyota, tough driveling, better offroad than our previous Jeep KJ cherokee, more mechanics can help with it compared to the jeep

How often do you go offroad?
at least every 2nd week... nothing super hardcore tho

What will your next vehicle be?
keeping this for awhile i think

thanks!
the Gu really is my dream car... waited years for it.
Wanted it instead of the boring magnas, falcons and commodores we had but took ages to convince the missus to go to a 4x4 but 2 years ago when she relented... she thought landcruisers and patrols were way too big so we had to go a KJ cherokee. was great at the time but stil wished i had a patrol. so on saturday when we finally picked up the patrol i was like a kid at xmas!!!!
havent taken it offroad but am dying to
Oh, got recommended instead of getting dual air lockers to get an auto front locker and keep the rear lsd...what do you guys think? i guess its a lot cheaper too
if i were to go that way, what locker would you go for and also who would install it? ( i wouldnt even condiser doing it myself lol)

Great car mate, should live up to your dreams!
I'd probably use it for a while and get used to what they can really do with just tyres and lift. A basic 2"
lift will get you most places, with the right tyres, the right attitude and 'picking the line' on tough spots.
The rear lsd is one of the best factory slippers around, and can be 'tightened up'.
Have a read of the trip reports here and check out what mods other patrols have.
And most of all, enjoy yourself!
