Cool Tats

G'day all. Well I'm an old timer whose had 4wds since the early 1970s. My first was a '68 swb Landrover that I used to fill with scouts and go bush. Traded it in for one of the first diesel Datsun MQs to come to Oz in 1980. After proper suspension mods done by a professional spring maker at Lidcombe (stay away from the generics, they're an expensive problem) it became one of the best I've ever owned. (So far the count is about 10, including 2 Rangies, Shorty Cruiser, Ford Explorer, 2 Suzukis, and currently a Kia Sportage (that's "Herself's) and a KJ Cherokee diesel (Mine, mine, mine!!!) most of which have served me well. In the 80s and 90s, I was very heavily involved in the 4wd movement (being a active member of three clubs). Since the turn of the century, I'm no longer involved in clubs having retired and moved to the central coast, and buying a caravan, but I still love my bit of 4wding, although, perhaps not as adventurous as I was. My other past times are golfing and fishing. Good to meet you people. Who knows, maybe out on the track . . . Tats!

Hey Tats,

Welcome to 4x4earth. Hope you find some new tracks to go and explore, although you have probably seen quite a few already If you have any GPS track logs, feel free to share them in the tracks section.

Have fun and hope to see you out there one day.

James

Thanks for the greeting Cliff . . . but . . . Cherokees don't have locking hubs. I guess I'll just have to use some old Aussie nouse (?? is that how you spell it?).
Regards,
Tats

Hi James and thank you. I've recently purchased a book of maps called "The Australian Road and 4wd Atlas" it has a small section with co-ordinates for 4wding, but none in NSW or Vic. They're in Cape York, Central Aust., Flinders Ranges, Fraser Isle, Kimberleys, Pilbara and the Top End. A bit far for a weekend trip from the Central Coast of NSW. Be great to get back to Vic one day and see some more tracks, and maybe meet you. I did a bit back in the early '80s (before those terrible fires - we actually drove through that area only a week or two earlier), and up into the Snowy Mtns. Also parts of the mid west as far as and into SA. Keep on Enjoying. Regards Tats
