Was actually thinking about Middle Earth 2011 myself on the weekend, now that the old Patrol is going again. I might have a chance of getting there. Just hope it keeps going till then!

Here are the dates of the holidays for next year. I have left 2010 dates on the previous page also.

Its a bit more complicated than 2010 as you can see . . .

Thats a top job you did on the calender. Do you think that this is enough time for you guys to get there and back?

Being in QLD I think we will need a little more time at lease in but that will all be negotiable and it wouldn't be too hard to plot several different options for us Queenslanders. I'll start working on a few right away..

3 days out: Brisbane to Thargominda; Thargo to Dig Tree/Inaminka on Adventure Track; Inaminka down Strezlecki to Merty Merty/Camerons Corner.

5 days out: Brisbane to Charleville; to Mt Leonard Station/Betoota; to Inaminka down Cordillo Downs track; Bore track to Bollards Lagoon then to Cameron Corner.

8 Days out: Brisbane to Charleville to Mt Leonard to Birdsville down the inside track then up to Walkers Crossing to Moomba Gas fields across to the Bore Track then on to Bollards Lagoon and Camerons Corner.

Bear in mind that these are just ideas and all can be adjusted to suit anyone. Some people might just want to do this as their only holiday for the year and be willing to take more time. I could be one of them!! All are able to be done but there would need to be several trip leaders obviously.

I have been through and started a new Middle Earth 2010 Thread Mini Middle Earth Meetup 24-26 September 2010 Surounding Stockton Beach NSW

I have also been through and deleted all the off topic discussion within this thread or moved the disscussion across to the other thread to save confussion between Middle Earth 2010 and the proposed meetup in 2011.

Cheers Yobbo

I can, first in USUALLY gets them.....especially if it's over school holiday time.
Can't hurt to start throwing dates around, it all helps with planning around it and for it.

Can you see the issues with the dates ChallengeLee. Its not pretty for us croweaters! We might need to catch up another year and let the easterners have their fun together in 2011.

Mate of mine has just put in for the 2 weeks of school holidays for Sept.11 and has been told "maybe"
The earlier you guys pick a date the better for those in big companies as school hol's go quick.

A few comments from a "newbe" if I may.
I like Big Rig's idea of coming from all over to a central point.
Maybe someone from each state put their hand up to get a state group to the central point.(1 thread per state plus the "gathering"To make it eisier to follow?)
This way rather than rush to and from maybe rush for one leg and wander for the 2nd.
As stated it's about the trip as well as the destination.

I'm planing a trip to the corner for Sept. 2011.
Rough plan (more for ideas) leaving Sat 24/9/11.(Could tweak things to line up if your all their).
Melb-Willandra(2Nights)-White Cliffs(2N)-Tiboobura(3N{day trips-corner/Mt Wood})Puts us their28-30/9
-Inamincka(1N)-Milparinka(1N)-Mutawintji NP(2N)-Broken Hill(?N)-if time Menindee/Kilchega NP and on to Mungo/Turlee Station-Melb.
As you can see it's--packup camp,travell(@300Km),set up and stay 1 day to enjoy.
(Depending on your dates I could ask those coming to see if we could join you there or they could join for the whole trip)

Bit of a bump and to throw a thought at you all

Been looking at the dates (thanks millsy.. http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/att...iday-dates.zip ) and thought of this option to think about.
What if we all meet on Monday 3/10/11 at or near Sturt National Park.
Stay for 2 more days leaving Thursday (6/10/11) morning?

I am planing on being up there at this time so this is just combining it and some of the research I have done
Accomodation/trip options..???
1...Theldarpa
Camping near the woolshed(some rooms availabile?) or next to a billabong
Showers available at the woolshed, camp kitchen, fire place, see link above.
Run 2 trips maybe 3....
1 is a self guided tour available on the property if anyone wants to do it,maybe a sunset drive. Say Monday.
1 to Camron Corner returning via Middle Rd, "Gum Vale",Ticha Corner(@385Km return).Say Tuesday
1 to Milparinka and Tibooburra(fuel ect. at both), Then finish Middle Rd returning on The Jump Up Loop Rd.. If time permits The Gorge Rd including Mount Wood(@320/380Km) returning via Milparinka and Tiboobura(To refuel). Say Wednesday.

2...DECCW | Sturt National Park : Mount Wood
No showers at these camp sites so your call.
Run 2 trips...
1 to Camron Corner returning vie Middle Rd and The Jump Up Loop Rd and Tibooburra(@360Km).
2 The Gorge Loop Rd including Mount Wood homestead and the walk up the mount to the lookout and some time in Tiboobura(@100Km).

This would fitt in with all the states exept Queensland.Sorry guys it is the week after if you can do it.
Option 1 is my preferance as we can leave things set up and not have to worry about the camp site while we are out triping(exept for the animal factor)
The showers are just to enticing also
If working around school holidays those of us from NSW or Vic can take a week to get there.
The SA and WA folk have a week afterwards to use.
NT is a bit tight and Qld just miss as stated.

I have not been up that way so this is just from my researching.
I was thinking it might get busy up that way so an advanced booking might be the go if want somewhere special to stay.

Whats your thoughts?

Also should add of the 5 vehicles on my trip I'm down to 2 so I could take the Victoria crew up via Hey/Willandra/White Cliffs/Big wool shed/Mt Wood the week prior and return via Broken Hill/Minindee/Mungo/Balranald(Still working it all out).

I don't know any of you (being a newbie and all) but I'd love to join in. My Vehicle will be fully ready to go by then.

That is of course if you don't mind a couple of younger guys (25ish) showing you all how to play cricket....
