Talking Pathfinder

Hi,
We had a great time at the cox creek crossing is a little bit of a challange but great fun we couldent stop laughing. Stalled the car in the creek and had to wait for it to dry out had to get pulled out by some other people once but they were great about it. Any suggestions on how to try and stop the water getting to the motor its petrol so have been told snorkle wont work is this correct or not.

Cheers to all

Boys,Boys,Boys! A snorkal works great when your engine is RUNNING! If your going to take a petrol donk in at very least half door height(dont go that deep without a snorkal!!) Your lectrics are a fair chance of getting WET! Lectricity n water, bad mix. At very least, seal your dissy, plugs, condensors, coil, etc. They're the ones that keep you're fire goen. Use a small smear of silicon under lead connections, coil and vital stuff. Don't use to much, ya never get them off! Go and buy a box of CRC or WD 40 or the likes. Drown the lecy's in that stuff before the big plunge. Not to early though, the stuff burns off with heat. Before you dunk, go silly under the bonnet. You can also use Vasoline in all your fittings for a medium turm fix. I'm sure you've got HEAPS of that! Guy's, a good way to avoid the problam,NEVER GO OUT ALONE! ESPECIALLY ALONE THROUGH WATER!!

Hey Pathfinder

I am guessing by your name that you have a Pathfinder? No points for that Nick!
Which model is it?
I have had my R50 in water over the bonnet with no snorkel. I did have a tarp on the front though and it was a short trip through the river.
Momentum, not speed seems to be the thing here, keep moving forwards and in low gear.

Nick

Hey Path
I have found to help the electrics in wet is use the spray bumper/tyre shine it helps repell water and hangs in longer than wd in the heat and take some Nulon workshop spray { think it is now called handyman spray lube } with you if water gets in still, and use a bra if doing a deeper crossing it will help keep the water from storming into the engine bay and flooding the electrics just try to keep moving and if you have a manual don't use the clutch if it gets wet it wont work.

Find your air intake and raise it a little do a cool air intake from the rear of your hood if you can and fit a water by pass and fully seal your air box and intakes, if your in water over the hood you maybe in trouble with your electronics and possible floating down the river anyway so the snorkle realy wont make any difference then.

That is unless you want the look of the snorkle then go for it

And get a can of "START YA BARSTARD" stuff works like a charm. Fires up a wet or out of tune or oil flooded engine no worries. And yes that is the real name of it too.
