Default Tytn II phones

Hi all,

Has anyone played with the Tytn II phones from HTC? They have an inbuilt GPS which would be kind of neat to use. I have a mate that had a iMate Jamin which had HTC software on it and it was as bugging as hell.

Are these phones any good. They are hard to find at the phone shops, and they all say that they sell them as quickly as they can get them, so I am just wondering if the phones are up to the hype.

Thanks

This will be my next phone. They look great. The HTC Advantage has been described as the phone most likely to make you put your iPhone down, but unfortunately they are not going to be approved for use on the Australian network, so the Tytn II looks like the next best thing.

A phone doesn't have to be approved to go on our network.. It just has to do GSM 900MHz .. Most phones do dual-bands (Common GSM bands are 900MHz and 1800MHz).. If you find one on eBay in the US..

I don't believe the iPhone is approved for use on our networks either.....

Hey,

I have a Jasjam and a jamin and they are both in getting repaired at the moment. They are not very relaible phones at all. They are great when they work, but they seem to be very temperamental. The Jasjam would crash at least once a week and has been back under warranty twice for the screen fading.

The software was by HTC, but the hardware was iMate I think. Just popped onto GSMarena and the Tytn II looks really nice.

Gday,

I have both a Tytn II and a P3600i. They both have inbuilt GPs and work great. I have to warn you though that the rom builds for the phones are a bit sketchy. For example, they are both running Windows Mobile 6 and wont connect properly to most bluetooth car kits. When you speak on the phones after the call you have to close down a bunch of applications which your ear has inadvertantly opened. Where the camera button is positioned on the phone quite often when you grab it to answer a call you accidentally hit the camera button and start the camera application. This will take about 5 seconds to open and cause you to miss the call.

Actually there are a whole bunch of issues with these phones, but on the other hand..... They have great audio quality, lots of applications for them, the GPS is super handy (tomtom, copilot etc can all be loaded) and the sliding keyboard on the Tytn II looks cool..

Just my rant about these phones!

Goodluck.
