Talking Mungo National Park

This is in NSW so it does cost, however there are good facilities, even sookie la la cabins if you want.

Take in your own water, there hasn't been water in Lake Mungo for 40,000 years.

There are 2 ways in, via Balranald which probably the roughest way in , plenty of sand drifts along the road . The other way in is from Mildura and this is easy going if you are towing a camper trailer. we swagged it

1/. The vastness of the area, life would have been tough out here .

2/. The walls of China Dune, sand formations are quite different, a very quiet during the day but at night it comes alive with all wildlife,

3/. Our party, this was the old GQ's last trip away before getting the GU .

4/. Apostle birds , characters at the camp site , they have been watching humans too long .

5/. Sunset at main camp

I was up there in September, went in on the road from Mildura just after a lot of rain which made for an interesting trip as the road turned to slop. There may not have been water in the lake for 40,000 years but my GPS still showed we were driving though a lake. I really need to update my maps.

It was an interesting place that gives you a feeling of driving through the outback without having to go to extreme. Enjoyed the trip.
