We destroy our Earth, by overpopulating it. We have plundered it's riches - its forests, minerals and fossil fuels - in an attempt to provide for the plague of humans.
Humanity continues on in this path unfortunately, and I fear these wars have been, and will continue to be, just part of the game of 'grab as much of everything as you can, before some other country gets it first'. Animals have the law of the jungle. Humans have war.
Clever lot, us humans!

What powerful emotions photo's can create in ourselves even though they are memories of someone else.

This statement beautifully depicts the way that humanity endures the crux of it's own existence

Yes that was the war to end all wars of my generation .
I have shown my young men pictures and news reports of the moratoriums and anti war marches in Melbourne of that time .
In this period, this country was under semi martial law, for those who were 18 and not caught up in the conscription had to carry government issued cards that attested that you had registered and had been indefinitely deferred ; military police could stop you in the street and demand to inspect them .
I can also recall returned vets quite often being almost considered criminals, even spat upon, ignored and not recognized by both government and the RSL .
It was a war that divided this nation and many others, we haven't been the same since.
It was of another time , I fear that we haven't learnt any lessons from it .

Well said Simmo
The war to end all wars that was back in the early part of last century almost 100 years ago wasn't it ?.
I was told by my grandparents that was ther purpose of rememberance day to honour the fallen but to also remember the futility of war.

Unfortunately History is not taught in schools now as it was to us. Seems it not as important as it once was. Says something about where this country could end up if it doesn't start LEARNING from/about it's mistakes. We're a bit of a doco family so history has been a part of our lives but too many of our kids' friends are ignorant on so much that has happened before.
