Camec have a nice fold up table hinge which is not expensive which I used . Built a tabletop out of 6mm ply and it was one of the easiset jobs I did. Only Difference it folds up so the table is a bit higher than kitchen bench height. Much better than the fold down ones held on by straps.

You can see on my Vitara, the door kicked up when open so it was not level.

The hinges are about $15 each.

Thats a great table rod, but I took the easy road, I bought a plastic fold out table that is just a little bit bigger than yours, fits neatly in the back of the 4B, has adjustable legs so uneven ground is no problem and only cost me $40 from sams warehouse. but that was about a year or so ago, they might not have them anymore.

Mine only cost $30 for the hinges plus an hour or two of my time as I had all the ply.

I like the sound of the Drifta camp kitchen tables with adjustable legs and am tempted to buy one... $180 so not cheap though

great idea, but they are fairly heavy so putting it up could be a problem, yes and the price.

I might add that now I have a ute, I have a tailgate, and I got some HDPE sheeting which cost me $60 fro a 2m x 1m sheet, had it cut to size for free when I picked it up and sold the other half to another Hilux owner. I just had to trim a couple of places with a jig saw when I got home.

Just velcroed to the tailgate with a bit of 3mm Clark Rubber adhesive strips to space it up.

Works a treat but I wish I had allowed for the extra thickness when I built my drawers as they are a bit hard to open with the table top fitted.

So my new tailgate table only cost me $30 too!

NOw if only I could find a way to get rid of the awful gas stove stand.

Thats the bit that shits you the most, you make some stuff for your rig and then down the track you wished you had thought further ahead with things that you add later on.
