hey bud, we sell the rubber bends at work, through Donaldson i think? so i reckon most other truck mechanical places in Melbourne would as well. i don't see the advantage of using silicone on an intake either mate. i use the rubber bends on my intake, and so does all the truck manufactures. id only worry about silicone on charge air piping.

hope i was of help to ya mate

Hey madkiwi, let us know how you go with the snorkel, price for parts, time to construct/fit, etc...
I have a 2.7 hilux and would like to add a snorkel but the aftermarket ones i see go for about $345... bit steep for my budget.
Some pics of the fitting process would be helpful too... if it all goes to plan that is.

just a word of warning though, with all the joins in the snorkel, they become potential leak hazzards for the motor, make sure you seal them well with silicon on the inside and a good hose clamp on the outside.

Agree with croozza, seal the joints and make sure you protect the metal with something like penatrol (can be purchased from bunnings) to stop rust
