Question removing tow bar

I have a 100 series landcruiser with a factory tow bar. I wanted to slide it out when going bush but found after removing the pin I couldn't get it out. I then found another bolt underneath which I removed but no matter how hard I try I cannot get it out. I even tried attaching it to a tree stump ( with a safety chain from the bar to the ball if it flew of ) But only succeeded in pulling the stump out.
Any ideas?

Lots n lots n lots n lots of penetrating oil!! Squirt it in twice a day for a week.

Sounds very rusted in. Once you do get it out, keep it lubed with lanotec or something similar.

Just by chance, has somebody taken a welder to it?? Has been done before to stop the rattle

Couldn't see any welds but wouldn't suprise me. I'll keep spraying and see how it goes.

And you'll also possibly need a big hammer.

give it a few love taps when you've lubed it up properly and increase ferocity as required.

Here are a couple of other ideas. Could you get some dry ice and sit it on the towbar. It might shrink it enough to loosen it. and then it might vibrate/pull out with a few taps with a hammer.

And I am wondering whether you could weld a couple of strong pieces of steel on either side of the bracket, and a couple of good sized nuts on either side of the removable tongue. So you have made a puller, a bit like a harmonic balancer puller, but with two bolts rather than one. Then, when you wind the bolts up against the two lumps of steel, put some vibrations through the lot with a hammer, and it might just break free.
