How many psi boost are your running, or if you dont know what motor do you have.

Sub 12 psi the supercheap cans with some stainless scrubbing pads go ok, but above this you are either looking at a CDK or Mann Hummel Provent units.

I currently have the supercheap style but with a proper filter in it, and have for many years and it works well, but as the 2.8 is now run in at 200,000kms and as Im going to 18psi I have purchased but yet to install a provent 200 from western filters, sydney for $210 delivered with a check valve.

The provents have an oil return in the base of them you can tap into the sump or put a tap on to extract the oil. I have chosen to return it to sump and you fit the check valve between the sump and the can so when you stop the valve opens and any cauted oil returns to the motor. Expected filter life is 50-80,000kms and they are roughly $60 each.

You might want to know the boost on these engines, can be from 18-27psi dependant on how stuffed the MAF is.

So, go the Provent.

Talking

G'Day,

Attached is what i have got in my GU Patrol...

Taipan 3L Patrol Oil to Air Separator

But after more research, the Provent has very good feedback and probably recommanded by more people... having said that my Taipan is the version 2 and works well too..

If I had my choice again, I would probably go the Provent!

Below are some info on it...

MANN+HUMMEL Group > The Company > Press Archives

Cheers!

As Gordon said some good info on patrol4x4.com, with a recent thread talking about using a oil water seperator for a compressed air system. Looks very interesting and considering doing it myself. Good description and pics also.
