Default Which Winch!!!!!!!!

Deer All,

It has come to that time that I have to buy a winch, Now how many people have heard that line.
I am getting a Bull Bar custom designed for my 1991 Surf (ARB + TJM will not touch it because of the 3" body lift)
I have decided to buy a WARN Winch as I really do not want the problems in the bush!

I am looking at the Warn Xp 9500 $1900.00 it is a low mount winch (Cant afford a high mount )

"Sugestions Please" flood em as I need to buy it before the Bull Bar is custom Designed.

Regards
Surfer

I think the rule of humb is - USA is OK. Warn have a great rep and have a back-up second to none in OZ. Don't know anything about tigerz. They should all pretty much be the same mounting configuration? The warn XDC9.5 is a more powerful unit I believe, or at least the ARB guy told me that?

I agree with the other fella's look into the Tigerz11 with plasma ..

I have been using & abuseing my Warn XD9000 for 4 years & its never let me down but they need a service every 12 mths to 18 mths for water contamination & rust.

Warns are tougher & the components stronger but you pay for it.. I would try a Tigerz i have several mates with them & have proved to be good just service it as i said above & if it blows up in a few years yuo buy another & your still in front financially..

BUT if your really stuck in a remote place i would want the best i could afford & i would want a Warn everytime the cheaper ones will not take the same punishment & we have run this one for hours getting out of trouble after destroying cheaper ones...

Just my 2 bobs worth... & if you only do weekend trips with other cars then you have safety in numbers so the Tigerz would be the go.

it came down to the choice if I just want to get out of trouble buy a cheaper brand. but in the event that I have to help others up a rut then I will not have to wait for the cheaper winch to cool down after it starts to smoke. I believe money is no option when relying on recovery equipment. I could have bought 2 of the cheaper witches to the one warn. but you try and get the model I did at that price!

The Tigers 11 is a very good winch, just as good as the Warn, and less than 1/2 the price, I have one and it has never let me down when I have recovered others, I have tried it out on my own vehicle just to see how good it was on a very steep rocky hill, and if the bull bar was not an ARB I think it would have pulled it off of the car.
You would not be dissapointed if you got one.

Hiya Surfie

I hav the exact same winch on my Hilux, been onboard a couple of years now..Not without issues...You need to wind and unwind (under power) especially if its been underwater afterwards or in a park with handbrake on every 6 weeks i try to do it.Otherwise the gear handle will seize and its not according to ARB (who fitted it) a warrant problem, the winch was still under warranty at this stage. They fixed it for me because ive spend a lot of cash with them, otherwise i was on my own..

Would i buy another warn,i think i'll try something else like the Premier winch or Tigerz as stated beforehand

goodluck..
