Default S.A Annual Meet at Bushy's

Gday All and Happy New Year to All.

Getting Very excited due to the interest and organisation of our first annual meet. We have booked the venue at Bushy's between Coonalpyn and Tintanarra. March 10 - 12th.

As per previous thread $35 will be the entry fee for the 3 days of camping, 4wd and socializing with like minded folk. Rick Des and myself got together last night and threw a heap of ideas around for the first trip.

We can also announce that Glen from 4wdsupplies.com.au who also joined us is going to sponsor the event and have prizes and also give aways over the week end. Glen will have a range of his Red Dog products on display while away.

Saturday is going to be a day of driving and exploring and maybe a chinwag or 2. Saturday Night weather permitting a fire and stories.

We have organised a few events on Sunday so points will be awarded over the day and prizes will be awarded Sunday night after tea. Thanks 4wdsupplies.com.au . Sunday night will be again weather permitting a fire and a few beverages and stories been stretched.

Monday will be more 4wding before leaving after lunch or when ever suits the individual.

Now we have a few forms that will need to be filled out before arrival if possible but sheets will be available on the day.

Can i please ask every one to bring how ever many people in the car the same amount of potatoes please. big or small doesn't matter.

Now for the important stuff. PM me your name so i can start a list on here to see how many are coming as stubby holders,stickers,hat tags can be ordered. Not holding any one to it if they pull out but just roughly so we can estimate. Extras will be available.

For people asking about fuel. Either top up at Coonalpyn or Tintinara on the way in and if need be its about 30ks from Bushy's back if you need more. Or a jerry can.

Thanks to all so far and look forward to meeting you all.

Exclamation Directions and Promotional Products

Brilliant work mate. This will be a great weekend. Cougz has asked me to give a few coordinates for the GPS savvy people to follow and there will be a few signs out too. You will have to look out for signs saying BUSHY'S and hopefully everyone will find the place.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming from Adelaide turn left off the Dukes Hwy about 3km past Coonalpyn onto Heinrich Rd.
Follow the gravel road East for 20kms until you come to the Tintinara/Geranium Rd, turn right (South) then left (nearly straight on) onto Webb Rd, follow East for 7kms until you see BUSHY'S and Ashby Rd signs.
Turn left and follow North for 2kms to the end and the gates are on the right. PLEASE SHUT THE GATES.
Drive along the track and follow the blue caravan/camping signs until you drive into CAMP CENTRAL. 10KPH.
Look for the JAYCO EXPANDA poptop and the brown/green RETRO poptop with a pirate flag and come and register. We will be displaying hi-vis yellow sand flags on our cars and on CH9 all weekend if you want to call us up.

As promised the GPS co-ordinates are;
Dukes Hwy - Heinrich Rd 35.43.5830 S, 139.53.0219 E
Heinrich Rd - Tintinara/Geranium Rd 35.46.5014 S, 140.05.4827 E
Webb Rd - Ashby Rd 35.46.2710 S, 140.09.9371 E
Ashby Rd - Gates 35.45.3550 S, 140.09.9600 E

Coming from Victoria turn right (North) at Tintinara travelling towards Geranium along the sealed road for 12 kms. This will get you to the intersection of Webb Rd (on your right) and Heinrich Rd (50 metres further up and to your left.) Turn right (East) onto Webb Rd and then pick up directions as above.
The Tintinara/Geranium Rd is a sealed road and maybe a better way to get there from Adelaide if you have a caravan and don't want to drive the 20 kms of gravel.

GPS co-ordinates;
Tintinara 35.52.8758 S, 140.03.3323 E

The saw stool will be on the Geranium/Tintinara sealed road at the Webb Rd intersection.
The bushys sign will be on the entrance gates at the end of Ashby Rd.
The right/left chicane arrow will be on Heinrich rd just before the Geranium/Tinty Rd.
The single arrow will be on the Dukes Hwy at the Heinrich Rd turn-off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From what we discussed last night I can't wait to get things going and hook up the van!
Stickers have been altered, $2ea. (100 ordered)
Eartags (dashtags, keyrings, hat tags...) $1ea. (100 ordered)
Stubbie holders $5ea. (100 ordered)
These are near enough to cost prices and we are only looking to cover costs. We need to sell out so they have been limited to 100 units each item.

Stickers are 200mm x 50mm white background and a clear face to stop fading.

Eartags will be a 'Leader Flocktag' They will have SA 4X4 (top line) BUSHYS (bottom line) and 2012 (on back) of a purple tag (colour for 2012)

Wetsuit Stubbie Holders with base, photo of CAMP CENTRAL.

A few things to bring that I can think of;
General camping needs...chair, cooking gear, eating and drinking gear, tents/swags, torches.
Long handled shovel, tyre gauge, gloves, sand flag.
Entertainment for the Kids, cricket, footy, bocce, remote contol cars, bicycles.
All drivers should have a UHF, either in their car or a handheld.
Heaps of food and drink, maybe a set of warm clothes, mozzie repellant, plenty of laughs, plenty of banter

Things to leave home that I can think of;
STRESS

I don't think everyone NEEDS to have recovery gear but it is up to you. If there are any major recoveries that you think you might need assistance for, or want advice for, call us up on CH9 and we will gladly help (while we take photos!!!!) We have been trained for these circumstances.

For those of you with excel (or other suitable spreadsheet programme), the attached gear list might help.

This stems from bushwalking lists I have used for the last 20 years or so, just adapted to suit 4wdn.

I just cross out what I don't want on a trip, then tick off the gear I do want as I pack it.

Fairly new, so will be added to as I find what I could have had (and didn't) on a trip, or as new gear is aquired.

Also there is a more comprehensive food planner file so you can list meals and ingredients needed, and cross them out as you get them at the supermarket etc.

Mmmm, just tried to upload Excel files and they won't allow it, so if anyone wants a copy (or thinks they can get them on a reply) please PM with email and I'll send them.

** Thanks Millsy, will give it a shot now zipped (yay, worked) **

Cheers,
Les
