Hi geoff,

Yeah we did that one too. Last time we were up there the guy at the Austral (can't remember his name) told us he was trying to get the property on the other side joined up so it would be possible to cruise all three. The view out over the plains is quite something and you get a really good feel just how suddenly the Flinders rises up from the plains. Next trip to the Flinders we hope to do some of the southern ranges, heard Horseshoe Track might be quite good one.

It's got a good size map showing all the repeater towers, PAR's, and 4WD tracks in those areas....also information on 4WD self drive treks etc. A lot of the self drive treks I have never even heard of, I didn't realise there were that many in the Flinders.

It can also be downloaded (5mb) from:South Australia - 4WD brochure

The paper version has a much clearer map than the PDF version tho.

Hope the info is useful to somebody

Cheers
Glenn

Would anyone be interested in doing a group trip/forum meet up, to the Flinders sometime in the new year?

It won't take much to convince the missus cause she loves going 4 wheelin and camping. I'll wait to hear from you both geoffsa and Dirtbag re: dates your free and we'll take it from there. maybe we can get a few others to come along as well.

I'll check our trip calendar from the club, I would hate to miss one of our trips.

Sometime around April/May is always better than the earlier months when the flies are still around with warmer day temps too.

Would you camp at Rawnsley Park?

Rawnsley Park has good facilities, cabins, caravan park and bush camping.
A kiosk is available with fuel and swimming pool, and also one of the best camp kitchens you will see anywhere.

The bush camping area is set amongst native pines and reticulated water with atco toilets (push button).

It is located just under the southern wall of Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley Bluff.

But we are also happy to camp anywhere, Bunyeroo Gorge has a couple of good camp grounds.

Geoff.

Rawnsley Park is great, a large area with mixed levels of camping .

Geoff is of the area so he would have local knowledge and that is something that can't be beaten.

Highly recommend a flight from the nearby airfield , you capture some magnificent views of the ranges .
