Default What's down the end of Coxs River Rd? (NSW)

Hi... I am going for an explore around the Coxs River area (Jenolan SF) on the weekend.

Can anyone tell me is it possible to take the Coxs River Rd turnoff and work your way through to Black Range Rd? Possibly via a look at the suspension bridge on the way.

I've done a bit of research but the info popping up is quite old and there is talk of many gates and private property.

I've had a look at this track and think I will head for that campsite for a start.

Am I wasting my time trying to get there from Coxs Rvr Rd or should I just drive around to Jenolan Caves Rd?

I know you can get from the Cox's River Rd to the 6 Foot Track and then to Caves Rd, but not too sure about Black Range Rd. Any maps I have of the area show locked gates into that area.

To get from 6 Foot Track to Caves Rd is a bit tricky to describe. Either go for a bit of an explore yourself, or find someone who knows the area and see if you can tag along with them...

There are some great tracks out there, so get to it...

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for the replies.

I've gone out and got the paper topo's to suppliment my PDA mapping so I should be able to navigate a way through.

I'll let you know

Hi guy's

Yes it's easy access to get to that campground from the North, you go through some private property gates but they are signed where to go, there's no locked gates & the last gate is removed on the map now & you drive over a cattle grid, I was leading a club trip through there end of July & yes, you can go on Black Range Road & follow on to the great tracks in Jenolan S.F on your right or follow to the end & end up at the tar road to Jenolan Caves or Hampton, it's all a nice area for a weekend's play. The swing bridge is worth a look as well

Cheers, Paul

For those watching this thread....

We had a tops day.

Very easy run from the Great Western Hwy down Cox's River Rd to the Cox's River campsite on the 6 foot track.

Then up the Glen Chee Rd, cut across a really good low range track to Mini Mini Fire Trail and onto Gibraltar Rocks lookout.

Good day out. The first part way all high range with no problems. The section through Jenolan SF can be as hard as you want to make it.

I am glad I found this thread, going to Coxs river to explore this saturday and towards Jenolan to see just how bad it is as I will have to ferry people back and forth on the SFT.
