Pyranees Ranges day trip 21/3
If anyone is interested we are going to go for a day trip up to the Pyrenees Ranges on the 21st March. Havn't been up there before but looks like an interesting area, should be about a medium rated trip as per one of my guide books (4wd treks close to Melbourne) so we'll see how we go. Anyone interested, let us know.

Hi Kyle, the Pyrenees are out past Avoca on the Sunraysia Hwy
West Gate Fwy to Avoca VIC - Google Maps
We are looking at meeting anyone else out at Ballan roadhouse on the Western Hwy at 8 am.
That should get us up there by about 9.30 am to give us a good day to explore the area.

Guys,
I live in the western burbs, do the trip to Avoca / Moonambel very often, it will take you 2.5 hrs from Westgate Bridge.
As a starter track for you you could head toward St Arnaud from Avoca , turn left into Moonambel /Natti Yallock Rd then right into Colemans Rd
At end of Colemans onto Richmond Track and away you go
Good morning run for vehicles, depending onwhich tracks you take they head you back to the Taltarni vineyard or toward St Arnaud ( much longer but you could come out around Stuart Mill for Lunch also )
Good little pub in Moonambel ( Mixed Grill is the go, ask for extra egg and chips )
easy to medium tracks, generally it doesn't rain too much and dries/drains quickly BUT if it rains tracks in the area get quite greasy / slippery
have a look on google earth for it - Lat 36°58'12.44"S / Long 143°21'23.36"E
Was up there a couple of weeks ago, In a Bravo and Lux - good easy to medium run.
Or head into Moonambel thru toward Stawell, and out to Mashado Lane ( about 10 ks out on left)
have a look on google earth for it - Lat 37° 0'21.26"S / Long 143°12'27.44"E
At the top of the lane there is a old hayshed & gate on the right just before you head into the bush then up into Frenchmans Tk and work your way across to Barkly / Blue Mountain Tracks and Main Trks to end up around Warrenmang, then back to the pub or wineries
There are very few hard tracks in the area so its a great place for beginners also.
AND !!!, if you like wine, do an overnighter
Cheers

Hi Aaron, we can meet you at the Shell at the end of the Ringwood bypass if you like, at 6.30 am, or we can meet on the road, i.e. Ballan Maccas at 8 - 8.30 am if it's easier.
