Queen's Birthday Weekend 2010.
Looking for a taste of the outback with out the stress of a big trip?
What about a weekend at Mungo National Park in N.S.W.?

It's within the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area.
As most of Australia has this as a long weekend and I've invited some mates(some of who have joined here

)so I thought why not offer it to all on 4x4Earth
Park details on this link....
DECCW | Mungo National Park - Park details
Have a good look around it as most details are there.
Located 110Kms North of Mildura and 146Kms from Balranald its around 6 hours from Adelaide or Melbourne.
Sydney is 987Kms away and easiest via Balranald.
*Note no fuel or shops at Mungo so last fuel and food is these 2 towns.
From the link..."Unsealed road/trail - 2WD vehicles. Dry weather only."
I have seen std. caravans here and camper trailers, again it's on dirt roads(min. 60Kms via Mildura) so corrugations are a possiblity.
Park entry and camping fees payable. Fees on the above link.
BBQ's at the camp ground and drop toilets, showers and flushing toilet 2Kms away.
No fire wood to be picked up within the park but can be bought by the crate if we don't take any(brought from Mildura).
Self sufficiency is a must and there is no reliable drinking water available!
This is the edge of the outback so pack the appropriate equpment/clothing/food/water/ect.(Don't forget your camera).
So arrive and set up our camping gear (tent/trailer/van/swag/ect.) on Saturday.
Sunday.. Choice of...
1..Stay put and do nothing but relax.
2..Do the 70Km one way Self-Guided Drive Tour.(I'll be doing this one)
3..Head to Pooncarie 85Kms away to look at Darling river/art&cafe shop at the old port site, oh there is a pub too.
