Warburton - Camping / Playing Trip 11&12th Sept

Hi Guys and Gals,
Matt, Rob and I are doing a weekend camping trip to air out and try out all gear before the 4 days at Granny's so we thought some of you might be interested as well.

Just for a change we will camp at the Upper Yarra Dam Camping ground, in Reefton, which is 20 minutes past Warburton, 10 mins from the Reefton pub for those that enjoyed a cola there on Sunday.
The ground has a modern toilet / shower block ( multple cubicles) grassed camp sites,
fire pits, dogs OK on leash, bush walking tracks, the dam, and funny enough 4x4 tracks all around it. and grazing deer ,wombats, roos etc on the oval at night.
It is secured at night with combination lock so we are free to come and go.
Last time we were there cost was $5 per head per night.
There is also a hugh pavilion with cockers tables etc so if weather turns sh!t we can take shelter in there if needed
Must bring own firewood for fires, PLEASE NOTE - NO CANS, BOTTLES OR PLASTICS IN THE FIRES, if you can bring it then you can take it home.

CAMPING COSTS PER NIGHT
Adults - $5.90
Children -$ 3.50
Family - $ 22.00 eg parents and 3 or more kids

If you wish to come along please feel free to do so, no limitations on this one, but we need to know numbers so I can book the sites.

DIRECTIONS TO THE UPPER YARRA DAM CAMP GROUND
Come along Maroondah Highway through Ringwood and then to Lilydale about 10-15 klm, once through Lilydale turn right at stop lights onto Warburton Hwy, watch for numerous speed limit changes along this stretch of road, and follow it for 43 klm till you reach Warburton.
Proceed through the town, last chance for fuel, LPG diesol and petrol at the Shell on the right, IGA for food and drinks-licnced, butcher and bakery on left.
The road changes its name to Woods Point Rd once you cross the Yarra and go straight ahead past the Warby caravan park
Continue along this road for 24.5 klm till you reach the main gate of the Park ( this is locked at 5.00 pm but I shall PM all involved in the trip with the combination for the lock).
As you are getting closer you will pass the famous Reefton Pub, its actually in McMahons Creek, we are staying in Reefton.
Follow the main road in for a couple of KLM till you see sign for camping on left and follow that direction, our camper will be set up (hopefully on Thursday) Maroon/white canvass. just drive down and choose a spot, no roads there . just all grass as you see in the pic on one of my posts.
NEXT G phones work up there, not sure about the rest. We will be on channel 16 uhf

Hi Andrew, couple weeks or so before the event should do.

Shall organize the camping as a late book in, just need to know who could be interested.

Hey you don't need lockers, you were on road tyres and went everywhere, the climb would have been interesting, you guys have a constant 3 wd controlled, better than most 4wd,

Just so you guys know were going to look at doing a lot of driving on Saturday and maybe some muddy tracks on Sunday. If we do go for the Muddy tracks on Sunday it will be Mud tyres or better as some of the tracks we have in mind were a struggle last Sat on Bighorns, so i doubt if A/T's will make it

This is yet to be confirmed, we may leave it out depending on the numbers and vehicles in attendance

Hi all,
Better put me down for this one. I will tune the boss to the idea of it in the coming weeks.
By that date she will be due in 5 weeks so it should be fine (plenty of time left to not expect a phone call while out.)

Jack,
I take it that with the gate you can get in and out at anytime. Just thinking that don't want to be stuck in there in the middle of the night and need to get out for a night drive or something.

Sounds like a good practice run for Granny's. Look forward to it.

Everyone gets the combination code for the padlock, so we will not be locked in or out,late arrivals can organize to be met at gate by someone over 2 way.

thanks for all the PM's guys but im busy that weekend it looks as though the weekend before and weekend after i was busy but now am free. Thats if i dont get called into work. have fun!

Let us know which Sunday you are available and we should be able to organize something,
the weekend before is Fathers day that's why we didn't plan that weekend, just pick a date.
