Will do Ian,

Should be a fun trip seeing the difference the air locker/s will make.

Should be able to slow crawl over or up anything

Going the front route first as the IFS has the tendancy to be the first to lift a wheel and spin up and when those wheels come down at speed the weak cv's always snap.

Quick question about the area, what is mount buller like that time of year.

Is it a quick trip from camp for a few pics or something to do on the monday after?

The most i have seen of your fine hills was on the O'Tooles trip.

There shouldn't be any snow up there unless we get some unusual weather, it's about 80 kms or so from skipworth reserve, We have a meeting coming up so I will put a suggestion out there to see if we should do a drive up there.

Simon

I will running a day trip to Craig's Hut and Mt Sterling over the Skipworth weekend. It's the closest you will get to snow.

Just a thought about the firewood situation . The collecting of firewood has become a bit of an iffy topic in some areas . Even a farmer is not allowed to collect fallen timber from his own property these days , such is the infestation of the greenies these days .

There are a few ways of solving this situation , everyone attending brings in a builders barrow load of wood from home, work etc, for a communal fire, the downside of this unless you have roof racks or bringing it in on top of your camper trailers then the will be an invasion of trailers .

Gunna will have to organize his own semi trailer !

I would suggest sussing out what mindset the local DSE person is, and I would think if the initial inquiry goes through Noel , who we are helping sort out O'Tooles with, we may be given the green light to go to a certain area and take as much as we like .

If every goes individual fire wise then that would be a serious drain on resources available and could draw angst and critcism and undo the good work we have acheived in helping with O'Tooles.

Just some thoughts from an old fart !

Already onto the firewood situation. The DSE has felled several trees not only around Skipworth, but also on may of the local tracks. These have been felled for safety reasons. Signage has been erected stating that this wood is available for use in campfires etc. There is heaps of it.

Nick and I have been liaising with the local (Mansfield) DSE and they are aware of our gathering, our firewood needs and so on. One DSE guy in particular has been very helpful and will be ensuring, as far as possible, that we have everything we need come November.

With this in mind, I don't think that there will be any need to byo wood. I am meeting with the DSE again prior to November and will confirm the wood situation at that stage.

For info.
