Default Type pressure monitors and laptop

Hey, has anyone tried to use the output from the transmitters on each tyre as input to their laptop PC? Obviously that needs some knowledge of the frequencies these things transmit on and a receiver – plugged into a USB port maybe – capable of picking up the signals. And of course some software capable of translating and displaying the pressures. I'm trying to avoid the clutter of a range of devices all basically with a screen and which do just one thing each. Just a thought, chaps.

You would need to know the frequency and format. The only way is contact the manufacturer, the supply may know

Why?

I have the monitor that come with the transmitters on my windscreen. Why would you want to put the readout on a laptop thats 10 times the size?

I'm trying to avoid a screen for the tyre pressures, another screen for the rear view camera, another screen for the GPS. It seems to me that all of these things should be able to be brought together into one unit. The screen on my netbook is about 10" so it's not too big but can do a job in replacing all the other screens.

Check the VMS range. They do everything you are asking all in one and you get the benifit of a touch screen too.

The touch screen I like. But I can run software like OziExplorer on the netbook.
It seems to me that a PC is the way to go for the long run. It can do whatever you need it to do.
