Default Coopers tyres ATR vrs S/T sure trac

Hey guys n gull's , I need some advise I'm looking at going coopers tyres for my hilux and the shop recommend the ATR 30/9.50R15 was looking at going slightly wider also wanted to know which is the better tyre from users the ATR or The Sure trac, is the sure trac a noisy tyre on the black top compared to the Atr, the shop says they are about the same but I don't want to pay good money to end up with 4 howling tyres. any info would be great.
cheers Chris

Chris i have not run the STC's but have worn out 2 sets of ATR's & can say they were great as an everyday tyre..... i had a second set of muds for trips away & weekend play.

I have been in trucks with the STC & seem quiet enough & i am sure they would not be nearly as noisey as a mud tyre so either way you will be safe.
The STC will be better off road obviously but depends on what you intend to do we are all different in our aplications.

I don't intend on doing alot of mud work, but want to start using the lux as it was ment, so my way of thinking it would be better to go for a more Aggressive tyre that may just keep me out of trouble.also with guaranteed 80,000kms

If you read the fine print the 80K is on road only..

I agree otherwise & IMO i dont know why they would bother with the ATR & the STC its splitting hairs & i am sure 90% of people would choose the more aggressive STC.
Alos think long & hard about what size as alot of people regret not going bigger.

You will also find good/bad info on all brands & any of the majors would do me fine but it is a massive can of worms & everyone has an opinion.

I will definately get the 285/75 KM2's after i wear out my KM1's but thats me & i have 35 inch Creepies for going silly.

I have got prices and can get the ST's for $275.00 fitted and balanced,
the Fc 2 (micky thompsons ) are $274.00 fitted and balanced,
not sure which to go for, also wanted to go bigger then what I have on now (255/70/15) but the guys at the tyre shop reckon I might not be able to as the lux is standard ( no lift kit). sheesh who know getting tyres was so hard.

Its good fun shopping though aint it..

General rule is to lift it first then tyres then lockers

If you are thnking of a lift do it first but if not then i would be very careful on the sizes & surely someone with a similar Lux will know the answer..
