Many things to consider here Jack, what size wheel/tyre?, rim offset?, 5 or 6 stud?, what brand of tyre?; the list could go on.
If you decided to go down this road, I personally would keep it limited to those on this forum & only to those who go on a trip that you participate in.

Great input, think it would be 6 stud Toyota and Nissan, 16" will fit majority of vehicles,
but only one GU owner has shown any interest, have PM'd him.
Do we need 31 or 33 or 35 ??????? in 16"
Do we want BFG KM2 or serious stuff, once you drive on real muddies you never go back to others for mud.

Thing is Jack, not everyone wants to drive mud. I agree 16" is best option but wouldnt go more than 33's as it then limits who can hire the tyres; plus you want to keep it 'sort of legal'. For most vehicles 33's are illegal anyway, but that is your call.
If you do go ahead, have 2 options, both being tyre size no greater than 33's.
1. KM2's, MTZ's, Bighorns etc - 285/75/16.
(For those who dont have muddies & want to either evaluate or go on a harder trip)
2. Simexes or Silverstone Extremes etc, again 33".
(For those who want to do one of the hardcore trips posted on the forum)
What you now have to decide is what is a suitable 'hire rate' that people are willing to pay.

That's the burning question LMAO
How much do they charge for chain hire ?? does anyone know ???
What would 4X4 Earth members be prepared to pay for this service ????
This whole thing is a bit of a hobby for me, but it has turned into a full time (nearly ) business. LMFAO
Just trying to help people get the best fun with their 4x4 without spending heaps of money during the wet times.

Why not treat it like a try before you buy? You could trial several brands and then make a decision.
Do you then offer the tyres (used in the hire) for sale at a reduced price?
Cheers

I agree it would be good to have s limit on what you offer to keep the stock at a minimum. But you should keep in mind those that you will most likely be catering for.
I would think you will be catering for those out there that have not done a lot of mods to there truck. So by going only with 33" you cut a lot of people out of the mix that won't be able to fit them under there rig.. I have a 40mm lift but can only get 32" under (even then I still rub on full lock..
Keep this in mind as I would imagine if I had the money to go higher and cut guards and do all the other mods that a lot if trucks have I think I could afford to but a set of extreams..
Food for thought...

Some positives to keep you happy
If my rig was a daily driver and covering between 250-500 Km a week there is no way I would buy mud tyres only to wear them out before I get to use them for their intended use.
So an A/T would be the go, the ability to hire a set of muddies would fill the gap for the 1 or 2 trips a year they would be used.
A drive in/out fitting for them in less than 1/2 hour with a free coffee( ) and track reports would maximize play time also.
Encourageing people to come too your part of the state can only be good for the local economy also as people fuel/feed ect. so good for all.
The abillity to offer to rebalance the original tyre(while people are playing) and to rotate them can't be a bad thing either.

Hi Jack. shit happens out on the tracks and I'd say if on the odd chance a stik goes through a sidewall, (and the tyre becomes unrepairable) you'd have to cover yourself with a deposit, say the price of a new tyre. Lugs off or other superficial damage is just part of 4WDing and the hirer should'nt have to replace a tyre for that. As for the Hire price, thats a hard one. Maybe $80-$100 per day. Has to be fair for both parties. I'm really just guessing here. I hired snow chains last Sunday and paid $35 and I did'nt even use them. Tyres cost a lot more than chains, so use that as a guide. Lots of grey areas to consider. Good Luck with it.
Cheers, Andrew

Thanks for the reply Andrew, it might be a goer if I can get more feedback of interested people.
I need to know what fee you guys think would be fair for all parties concerned, as I have said, I'm not wanting to get rich out of this just cover my costs and let the guys go and play safely, without the need for winching and snatching on AT and road tyres
