Default Tyres & Rims

My son has a Rodeo LT 2005 4x4 Crew Cab. There is no tyre placard so he's firing blind. Currently running Chromies 275/30R24 101W. I call them pimp wheels. Look fantastic but useless where he likes to go. He wants to change to 4x4's. He also has as set of standard 245/70R16 111S but wants to go bigger to better suit the lift the last guy did to fit the 24" mags. Does anyone know the Max rim size and tyre height/width allowed on that vehicle. Needs to be legal in SA to keep his insurance. Any assistance is appreciated.

i would be contacting the transport authority in SA

get the info in writing

a word to the insurance company may yield the correct info , again ask for the info in writing

always keep all details of all phone calls , name , time, date etc

get them to email if possible

Police : Don't know. Makes me wonder how they can defect cars !
Dept of Transport : Don't know
Rego Dept : Don't Know
Insurance company : Don't know

Seems like nobody knows or cares but what the hell, we'll slap on a defect notice anyways.

Have got snippets of info from different tyre/mag retail places and now have a better idea of what's legal and what I can do. BUT mind U they don't care if it's legal or not, they'll sell U anything. They met my expectations !
Must now work out how Speed and Load Ratings work.

Thanks for your help

What about a holden dealer? They should be able to dig up the placard info for you.
